The Alpha Upsilon chapter of Sigma Chi at USC was founded in 1889 and is the University's oldest fraternity. It quickly grew into one of the most thriving and prosperous chapters of any other fraternity in the world and has been honored with numerous awards, including an impressive 8 "Peterson Significant Chapter" awards. Often referred to as the University of Sigma Chi, the Alpha Upsilon chapter at USC has been known to produce many leaders in almost any field of endeavor imaginable - from entertainment to sports - including Kerry McCluggage, Mike Holmgren, Tom Selleck, and John Wayne. Alpha Upsilon has also helped to produce many of the top CEOs in the business world. The USC chapter has also seen much more than its share of both All-American and Olympic athletes.

After being absent for the latter half of the 1990s, our chapter was rechartered on March 24, 2001 by a group of 60 outstanding gentlemen, now known as the Re-Founding Fathers. Sigma Chi has since re-established itself as a campus leader among Greeks in academics, philanthropy, social events, and recruitment.
We believe that the major strides that have been made in such a short period of time are symbolic of the historical and future strength of our chapter at the University of Sigma Chi. We also owe a great deal of thanks to our alumni for their endless support.
