Plans to build stunning new chapter house
unveil a bold, new era for Alpha Upsilon
Los Angeles, California - The Trojan Sig Foundation, the Trojan Sig Housing Corporation, and leading alumni Sigs are making a grand announcement: We have plans to build a new Sigma Chi Chapter House at USC. Having successfully completed the $4M quiet phase of the Four Pillars Capital Campaign, we are proud to publicly announce this important effort to raise another $10M for a total $14M goal that would finance the construction of the new facility and create an endowed $500,000 scholarship fund for deserving undergraduate members of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter.

The stunning building will be constructed on the present site of the current house (it remains the largest piece of land on The Row) and carry Alpha Upsilon forward for future generations of our undergraduate brothers. It will provide a chapter house that is representative of Sigma Chi's leadership role in the USC Greek Community, be competitive with housing options (on and off campus) and help keep the occupancy of the house full of emerging active leaders.
Leaders of the campaign concluded the quiet phase, thanks to the many amazing alumni donations and David Pyle’s One Root Foundation's extremely generous match challenge that helped make this all possible today. Now, it's time for scores of other alumni brothers to step up and be a part of history.
Imagine yourself holding a golden shovel digging dirt at the ceremonial groundbreaking or using keepsake scissors to cut the ribbon at the Grand Opening. All donors will be invited to both the groundbreaking and, ultimately, the ribbon-cutting ceremonies to celebrate being a part of the 134-year history of Alpha Upsilon. It is expected to be a two-year project.

“We all have great memories of the old house,” said Capital Campaign Chairman Kerry McCluggage who is also the President of the Trojan Sig Foundation, “but it has run its course. This new chapter house will be among the very best in America.”
Designed by architects Krittenbrink Architecture LLC, the leading fraternity and sorority architecture firm in the nation, the new Alpha Upsilon house will feature:
-
32,000+ sq. ft. on four levels
-
A mix of double and single rooms (84 capacity)
-
A chapter library and chapter room exceeding anything we’ve ever had before
-
Meeting rooms supported with the newest technology
-
Entertainment space for both alumni and undergraduate entities
-
Study spaces and gathering places with a full range of digital media
-
A fitness center and recreation room
-
Modern kitchen and large dining area
-
A brand-new volleyball court and half basketball court
From opposite sides of the planet, 22 new brothers become Sigs
They came from all parts of California and from areas on both sides of the planet. On February 26th, they became unified with the rest of us in the sacred bonds of Sigma Chi during initiation ceremonies at Alpha Upsilon.
